Matthew 7:13-14 (KJV)
The Two Roads
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
John 10:1-7
The Gate for the Narrow Road
1 "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep.3 The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice." 6 Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.
7 Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
Jesus teaches us that there are two roads in life...God gives us free will and each day, and each moment in our lives -we can choose either road...One road is straight and narrow and you must enter it through a straight Gate, and one road is wide and very easy to get to...The wide road has no Gate...The wide road is not only easy to get to, it is much easier to travel...And often at the time of traveling the wide road, it seems more fun...The wide road takes less effort, which makes it well traveled...The small road, the narrow one travels toward and to God...The other road, the wide one travels away from Him...
The Gate for the narrow road is Jesus...That Gate is the way to the Father and the way to heaven...Because the wide road is well traveled and probably has some our friends and some of our family on it, because it is so easy to get on and go...And with family and friends why not just stay on it?...The narrow and straight road with the Gate, is more of a solitary one...That road is often, if not always -does not have the continuous traffic as the wide road...And it will not only take you where you want to go, it leads you where you need to go...This road has a good destination...The narrow road with the Gate is heaven...The wide road in all actualities is a road in which you really do not know where you are going or where it will lead -but as stated earlier, it can be taken with little effort, others seem to want to join you (or you join them), and it just seems more fun (at the time you are on this road)...The wide road has no purpose, and can lead you randomly and often in circles...
When we follow and travel the straight and narrow, it means doing the right things in life...The road of the straight and narrow is not crooked, but as it says -is straight...The straight and narrow road has someone who is very helpful and nice at the Gate and down its route...The One who is the Gate and at the gate will be with us along the road that is straight and narrow...He will give you the true directions you need anytime you ask for them...And in life there will be times when we need direction and His help along the way...
