Matthew 7:13-14
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Jesus lead a moral and perfect life while on earth...Being morally right even most of the time is a very difficult thing to do...Always following the moral laws is as hard as nails...The road to following Jesus' teachings is not simple and easy path to go down...So being a Christian and following Christianity and its doctrines is not something easy to follow...It is difficult thing to do and try and has only a narrow gate...Many miss the narrow gate and take the easy gate to the road that is wide and broad...That road is the road where we can do as we please...G. K. Chesterton put it this way, "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried."...
We cannot do what Jesus did when He was on earth, in the terms of right and wrong...He set us an example and the standard of how we should live...He brilliantly followed the Moral Laws of God...
C. S. Lewis said this about following the Moral Laws of God and what our Father expects out of us, “But do not let us go too fast here...The Moral Law does not give us any grounds for thinking that God is ‘good’ in the sense of being indulgent, or soft, or sympathetic...There is nothing indulgent about the Moral Law...It is as hard as nails...It tells you to do the straight thing and it does not seem to care how painful, or dangerous, or difficult it is to do...If God is like the Moral Law, then He is not soft.”...
