What we will be learning: Chumash Bereishis Perek 44, Haggadah, Navi, Mishna, Parsha
Chumash:
We will be doing a few new Pesukim each day. I will post which new Pesukim the boys should look over by 9:30AM. The boys should read these pesukim, working out as many of the words as they can. At 10AM, I will log on to the Google Meet and we will go over those pesukim together along with some time for questions and discussions. There will be work to be done in the Chumash packets that were emailed.
Chumash Review project: time will be given each day to work on a Comprehensive Chumash review. For the review, each boy will pick a theme to explore from the material we have learned. They are to review the perakim where their theme is contained and then make a diagram/project depicting the theme. It can be made out of blocks, lego, poster board, or any random materials found at home(no shopping necessary!). Themes that can be explored are:
-Yaakov preparing to meet Esav (perakim 32-33)
-Yaakov traveling through Eretz Yisrael on his way to his father, Yitzchak (Perek 35)
-Yosef and his relationship to his family before going down to Egypt (Perek 37)
-Yosef and his rise to leadership in Egypt (Perakim 39-41)
-Yosef and his treatment of the brothers while in Egypt (Perakim 42, 43, 44, 45)
-Yehuda and his interactions with the family and his rise to being a leader(Perakim 37,38,43,44)
-Reuven and his interactions with the family (Perakim 35, 37, 42)
These diagrams/displays should be accompanied with quotes from the text to explain what they are depicting. For example, if a student chooses to show the steps that Yaakov took to meet Esav, they might include a pictures/lego models of Yaakov dividing his family, sending animals as gifts, davening to HaShem, bowing down to Esav, etc, along with the pasuk that describes each scene. Upon returning to school, all students will be expected to present their project to the class (if the actual display can't be brought in, then pictures should be emailed to me to be displayed on our Smartboard and the student can explain what he did while showing the pictures).
Please email me the theme that your son chooses (more than one student can do each theme).
Shorashim review: A few times a week, the boys should review the shorashim that are contained at the beginning of each Perek's packet(and the master Shorashim list located at the bottom). In class we have a game we call "Shoresh Ball" where the students divide into pairs and toss a ball to each other while asking each other the shorashim on the list. This would be a good opportunity to have your child engage with you or a sibling using a soft, squishy ball indoors(with parental permission), or outside, weather and health permitting. The activity can be anywhere from 5-30 minutes(if they're having fun and they're reviewing, they can keep it going!).
Kriah: Once a week I will assess each boy's kriah. I will send a spreadsheet the night before with signup times. It should not take more than 2-3 minutes. We will use the regular 4B Google Meet link.
Haggadah: We will spend some time going through the Pesach Haggadah together. All the boys should have taken home their Haggadahs from school. I have attached a pdf with the Haggadah on the bottom of this page.
Navi: We are up to Perek 8 Pasuk 30. We will do Navi a few times each week.
Mishna: Mishna will be 4 times a week with Rabbi Grossberg
Parsha: Every Friday we will meet (during the usual Mishna slot) and share a Dvar Torah and some highlights from the Parsha
