Choose Your Mixed Media- Paper and More!
You can use ANY and all kinds of paper for this collage. “Mixed-Media” means a piece of artwork that has a bunch of different materials (media) put together (mixed) to make one image (your finished collage)- like different papers (construction paper, newspaper, magazine pages, computer paper, wallpaper, etc.), different types of paints (acrylics, watercolors), different types of drawing tools (colored pencils, markers, chalk, pencil, pen, etc.), or different textures.
Cut Your Found Paper.
Your “found paper” is the different types of paper that you’ve collected. Cut and/or rip these papers into a variety of shapes and sizes. Remember, this is abstract, so it does not have to “look like” anything.
Lay Out Your Collage.
Lay your cut and/or ripped found paper shapes onto your project paper. Layer and overlap them. Be sure to check out the resource videos to see how to successfully do this! Fill the paper with these paper layers!
Glue Found Paper.
The last part of collage is pasting (gluing) everything together! Glue each shape down one by one. Take your time. You want the shapes to come together without floppy corners or edges.
Add Painted and/or Drawn Details.
Be sure to add painting and drawing details throughout your layers OR at the very end after your glued paper layers dry. You can use any and all colors for this. Enjoy!
