You can make this a Drawing OR Painting OR Both!
You want to understand what “Automatic Drawing” means. Check out the online links to help with inspiration! Automatic Drawing means drawing without thinking! That’s right, don’t think!
Sketch out your automatic drawing LIGHTLY with a pencil. Maybe set a timer for 10 minutes, or more if you want. Do not erase anything! This is automatic! Draw as many shapes, lines, and details as you are feeling in that time. You can draw objects, creatures, or something that looks like nothing at all. Don’t think about “what it looks like.” Just. Draw.
After you sketched out your automatic drawing, now you want to add vibrant colors! If you are drawing or painting, carefully fill in each shape with different colors. Take your time- You want the colors to be solid, and you want to make the white of the paper totally disappear. Make this as colorful as you want! Be sure to fill in the background too.
Last step is outlining every shape with black. If you are drawing, maybe use black sharpie or oil pastel to carefully outline every shape. If you are painting, use black paint and a thin paintbrush to do the outlining. You can make thick and thin black outlines- Switch it up. Enjoy!
