Turn Paper Vertical.
Remember, vertical is turning it tall instead of wide. This is the “portrait orientation” of your paper. Elongated means long, and we are going to make a long portrait! *Check out the video lesson guidance starting now!*
Draw an Oval in the Upper Half.
In the upper half of the project paper, draw a long oval in the center.
Draw Eyes, Long Nose, and Mouth.
Draw the face details, but they do not have to look real! You can make the shapes of the eyes and mouth a little smaller and the nose a little longer, like Modigliani did!
Draw Hair, Ears, Neck, and Shoulders.
Draw the hair, ears, neck, and shoulders. But, make everything longer than “normal!”
Color!- First Portrait, Then Background.
Here is where you get “expressive” with the color- get creative with the colors! They do not have to be realistic. Fill in the skin color first, then the hair and details. Lastly, fill the background with vibrant, bold colors.
