  1. Turn Paper Vertical and Choose Materials.
Remember, vertical is turning it tall instead of wide. Choose painting materials OR drawing materials. You could also use both!

  2. Make Background “Off White.”
You want the background to be just off white- This is “toneing” your paper. You can make it a light gray, light yellow, or any really light color. Fill the background with whichever “off white” color you prefer.

  3. Paint (or Draw) Flower Petals.
This is an abstract painting or drawing, so the flowers do not have to look exactly like flowers. You just want them to resemble flowers. Create groups of flower petals for each “flower” throughout your project paper. Make at least “5 flowers!” Switch up the color for each one too.

  4. Paint (or Draw) Flower Stems.
To each group of flower petals, add stems to “complete” the flower. Remember, these do not have to look exactly like a flower- just give the look of it!

  5. Add Abstract Details.
Lastly, add abstracted details like leaves, random marks, or words in the background of the flowers.
