Challah Recipe:

Dairy & egg free so all our kids can enjoy! It is also very forgiving!
7 cups flour, plus a little extra 1 tsp salt2 tbsp. regular yeast 1/2 cup sugar3 cups warm water 1/2 cup oil
-Mix the water, sugar and yeast in a large bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients until dough is formed. -Knead until smooth and elastic.-Place into large oiled bowls, cover & place in a warm spot. Allow dough to rise until doubled in size. Uncover & punch down.- If you have time, let the dough rise again for 45 minutes. (We skip this part) If not, shape the bread now.-Braid dough or divide the dough into as many portions as you need. This is when we add chocolate chips, raisins or sprinkles. This recipe makes approx. 24 challets-Cover and let rise again (we skip this part)-Uncover & brush w/ egg whites. Sprinkle with sesame/poppy seeds (Optional-we skip this!)-Bake @ 350 for 30-40 min. (Reduce baking time for small challot/rolls to 15-20 minutes)
