  1. Cut 2 Cardboard Pieces.
Cut one small rectangle piece of cardboard for the “blue and stars” part of the flag. and another large rectangle piece of cardboard for the “red and white stripes” part of the flag.

  2. Glue Found Map on Cardboard.
If you can have access to 2 printed United States maps, use those. If not, use newspaper, or magazine papers- that would work fine. Either paper can be called your “Found Paper.” Glue one piece of found paper to the small piece of cardboard and the other to your larger piece of cardboard.

  3. Create Your Stripes.
On the large piece of cardboard, create your red and white stripes. Alternating between red and white. Like in the video, you can use masking tape to help this process. Or simply paint stripes that resemble the American flag. Make sure the red and white stay transparent so that you can still see through them to see the found paper. This makes your flag more interesting!

  4. Create Your Stars.
Paint (or color) the “blue and stars” cardboard blue. Add 50 stars to it!

  5. Attach Stars to Stripes.
Glue the “blue and stars” piece of cardboard to the top left corner of the “red and white stripes piece of cardboard. You have yourself a Mixed Media American Flag!
