Read and Research Artist.
Look through all online source materials for project inspiration. You want to know who Paul Gauguin was and how he helped transform Impressionism.
Turn Paper Horizontal.
Remember, horizontal is turning it wide instead of tall. This is the “orientation” of your paper.
Pencil Sketch Landscape.
With a pencil, lightly sketch out your landscape- the ground and a couple mountains and hills. Use your whole paper!
Add Plants to Land.
Draw in different kinds of trees along your ground like palm trees and pine trees. You can add bushes and other plants too!
Draw a Sun, and Clouds.
Add a sun and clouds to the background in the sky.
Add Details.
Add small details in your landscape like texture (to your mountains or grass), walking dirt paths, animals, and/or houses.
Color Vibrant Color!
Start with adding colors you are familiar with- like blues to the sky or greens to the grass. Then, get wild with the color! Make purple trees, orange mountains, yellow clouds, etc. Take your time and use solid colors, add lights and shadows. Make it as colorful as you want!
