Orient Your Paper.
You may choose either horizontal or vertical for this collage.
Lay Out Every Value.
Check out the “Value Song” and remember that the value is every light and dark of a color and every color in between. Make sure you have a bunch of different values for a color for your project.nNotice how Willem de Kooning has a whole bunch of different values throughout his paintings.
Cut Your Value Shapes.
Cut out as many different value shapes as you want. At least 20! You can cut out any shapes- circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, etc. Make them different sizes! Keep this abstract (meaning it doesn’t have to look like anything)!
Lay Out on Project Paper.
Organize your abstract value shapes around your project paper. You want to fill your project paper with these values. Make sure to have them overlap and intertwine with each other. Take your time.
Glue Shapes.
Carefully glue down your shapes onto your project paper how you have them laid out. Make sure all of the corners are attached and not flopping around. Take. Your. Time.
