John 1:1-18
The Word Becomes Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
John 3:16-21
God LOVES the World
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
John 16:12-15
The Holy Spirit of Truth Guides Us
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
1 John 4:8
God is LOVE
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Matthew 5:17
Jesus Fulfills Mosaic Law
17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
Acts 4:12
Jesus is Our Only Savior
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
If we believe in the Story of Jesus, then can better we see the reason we inherently believe in both good and evil...If One is completely full of Grace and Truth, we can see that that would be Goodness...We can see Jesus as Good and the prince of darkness as evil...Jesus is the reason for goodness and why we think that there is goodness in this world...And we do see also that there is a dark side to the world and that there is evil in the world...We also better understand why St. John wrote, "Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of Light because their deeds were evil...Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and will not come into the Light for fear that their deeds will be exposed...But whoever lives by the Truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God."...
We know that the law was given through Moses; and that grace and truth came through Jesus Christ...So we can see that Jesus is the answer and completes the Law of Moses...We can see how He fulfills Mosaic Law...And we better see how Grace and Truth dying on the cross pays our sin debt, better than the law ever could...
And when we think about why we believe that there is this goodness in our world, we see that we are guided by this “thinking about goodness” and that type of thinking (about Goodness) leads us to the Truth...So there is a Goodness in this world and we are guided to this Truth...But those who do evil avoid the Goodness and the Light...
And when we think about Grace and Truth and Goodness, LOVE comes to mind...God is LOVE and He so LOVES the world, that He gave His Son to us, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life...For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him...
So the Story of the Gospels and of Jesus is a Story of LOVE and Goodness and Grace and Truth...And we better understand why there is no other name in the world for our salvation...
