John 14:23-31
Peace With God
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
“Come now; let us leave.
Deuteronomy 4:29
Seek God With All Your Heart and All Your Soul
29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Acts 17:26-28
God Wants Us to Seek Him
26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Pray Continually
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
We are to seek God with all our heart and all our soul...And in our sincere seeking process, we will find Him...God wants to be found and be close to us...God is not far from any one of us...When we live close to God we find a different kind of peace...We live a different kind of life...To pray continuously to God, we start to live closer to Him...St. Paul teaches us to "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."...Faith in God and knowing that He, His Son, and His Holy Spirit are enough...That is the foundation to peace, the kind of peace that Jesus spoke of...His words are "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you...I do not give to you as the world gives...Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."...
Author and Priest Brennan Manning said, “In, there is only one thing God asks of us—that we be men and women of prayer, people who live close to God, people for whom God is everything and for whom God is enough...That is the root of peace. We have that peace when the gracious God is all we seek...When we start seeking something besides Him, we lose it...As Merton said in the last public address before his death, “That is His call to us—simply to be people who are content to live close to Him and to renew the kind of life in which the closeness is felt and experienced.”...
