Acts 23:6-8
Belief in the Resurrection
6 Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin, “My brothers, I am a Pharisee, descended from Pharisees. I stand on trial because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead.” 7 When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. 8 (The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees believe all these things.)
Paul says he was on trial for believing that there was such a thing as resurrection in dead...Paul had this hope that when we die, we could change or transform and be in heaven...In Paul's day there were some, perhaps many who did not believe in a resurrection...The Sadducees were a group that did not believe in the resurrection, nor in angels, nor in spirits...Today, I still believe there are groups who do not believe that a resurrection could happen, has happened, or will happen...
