Acts 3:1-10
Peter Heals the Crippled Beggar
1One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." 7Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 8He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Peter, John, and the disciples of Jesus would go to the temple to pray regularly to our LORD...One day on their way to the the temple, some people were carrying a crippled man...Peter and John talk to a beggar, who has been crippled since birth...The crippled man ask Peter and John for money...Peter tells the cripple man they basically have no money...
But Peter taking the beggar by the right hand and then said in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, walk...The crippled beggar jumps right up, with now strong feet and ankles, begins to walk...It was a miracle...After all those years of not using the muscles in one's feet and ankles, this would take a miracle...With the beggar's ankles now strong, the crippled man could now walk...
This miracle was God's plan...The hour was when many would have been entering the temple...The crippled man was known by many who visited the temple...The healed man, not only walks but jumps to his feet and goes jumping around the temple courts...The healed one would be drawing more attention to the area...Peter could now address those watching and coming to watch...Peter preaches to a large crowd about Jesus after the miracle...
Our God, and Father of Jesus, has allowed Jesus' disciples to heal others in the name of the Son...God's miracle would allow Peter to teach others about the power of Christ...
