Acts 2:29-32
Eyewitnesses to the Resurrection
29"Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. 32God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.
St. Peter addresses the crowd on the Pentecost...He was filled with the Holy Spirit...He talks about King David, probably Israel's greatest ruler...He passed away and his remains are still in his tomb today...Jesus, however, does not have any remains in His grave...His body did not decay...He was resurrected...God raised Jesus to life...
And one very important fact is Peter and many listening saw Jesus after the resurrection...They were eyewitnesses to this fact...
The reason Christianity is still here today, is Jesus did not do this things in a corner or hide them from others...He came, He taught, He healed, He died, and He was resurrected by God... Many saw this, so the argument that it did not happen never came to suppress Christianity (even though the early Christians were persecuted for believing in Jesus, they persevered)... The crowd could have told St. Peter the resurrection did not happen and ran him out of town...But it did happen and many there were eyewitnesses, and because of the resurrection we know that Jesus still lives today...His word will never die...
