Acts 18:24-26
Apollos Learning More About God's Word
24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
Sometimes in our zeal and fervor we might makes things misleading and not give a clear enough understanding...A Jew named Apollos, a wonderful Bible teacher, good man, and eloquent preacher, had just arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Egypt...While he was in Egypt, someone had told him about John the Baptist and what John had said about Jesus, but that is all he knew...He had never heard the rest of the story!...So he was preaching boldly and enthusiastically in the synagogue about Jesus...Priscilla and Aquila were there and heard him—and it was a very powerful sermon...Afterwards they met with him and explained what had happened to Jesus since the time of John the Baptist, and all that it meant!...Priscilla and Aquinas knew much about Jesus...Apollos learned more about God's Word...
When we question things we hear or read, let us go back to the Bible and read again God's Word to help us learn more adequately...We can learn more about the Bible from others who know about it like Priscilla and Aquila...
