John 14:6-7
Jesus Says He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Deuteronomy 18:15-22
The Prophet
15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. 16 For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”
17 The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him. 19 I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name. 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”
21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
Acts 3:17-26
Moses Words of The Prophet Comes True
17 “Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer. 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’
24 “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days. 25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’ 26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
Certain truths we question and certain truths we do not seem to question...Certain truths we just completely take for granted...Like the laws of nature, we have air and gravity and we just take those things for granted...I cannot myself prove that air and gravity exists but I believe that they are there and have faith each and everyday that they will be around and near...And there are little or no doubts when I woke up this morning or any morning, I know that the air and gravity will be there...And I am comforted that these things will exist and be here each and everyday with me...So, it is odd in a way, that for one who believes in Jesus, I sometimes find myself questioning that He is Truth, the Way, and the Life when He says He is these things...
Jesus links the words the Way, the Truth, and the Life...And He starts this word connection with I AM...In Greek, I AM is or was a way to dramatically express yourself...The words I AM mean TO BE and are the words and the name that God told to Moses, when He first told His name to him...Jesus is the Truth, unlike any of the other prophets...For He directly came from God and represents the Absolute Truth of God...He spoke God's Words...He is the Way to God, and the Way to Life...In fact, He tells us that He is the Only Way to God, or the Only Way to I AM...So there is Only this One Way to God, if you believe Him...And in both a physical and Spiritual Way that should be and is nice...Instead of hundreds of ways and letting us getting lost in trying to find God and heaven, Jesus says that He is It...He is the Way, the Only Way to God...And He claimed to be the Source of Life...In His life, He most naturally went around forgiving others of their sins like He was the One who we have offended, when something was done immorally...In His life, He naturally went around healing others is such an easy fashion...And in His life, He went around naturally speaking about life and death and that He somehow had this authority over both...After His death, He did quite naturally (for Him, being Divine) overcame death and was resurrected...And I believe He is Divine, because He said these words, which are quite odd and somewhat nonsensical about Himself...If I told a friend I am the truth, the way, and the life -what might they think of me?...But He did it quite naturally and He and His words are completely believable, when we apply them to Him...And this is what strikes me the most when I think about His words...These words and the words He spoke fit Him...His words make complete sense if He is God, and from God, and is God in the flesh...His words and His actions, and His ministry, His death and resurrection prove to me He is quite Divine...He is our Messiah...He is the One, whom the Old Testament and Moses said was to come...
When other people look at the world and we listen to their worldview something is always missing...Man tends to look at the things around Him and what are thoughts are, how we feel, and our past experiences -and we come up with our own worldview and beliefs...As we listen to other people's worldviews, something seems to be missing...Jesus speaks of truth, and the way to life -both spiritual and the physical earthly life and nothing seems to be left out...Nothing is missing...His teachings are two thousand years old, and millions of people still follow Him...
Jesus spoke these most beautiful of words, and His words are the most powerful of words ever to be spoken...Nothing is missing in His view...The words and gospel of Jesus are the Way, the Truth and the Life...
