John 3:1-9
Jesus Teaches Nicodemus
1 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
John 11:17-27
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life
17 On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. 18 Now Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem,19 and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother. 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.
21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”
23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
John 14:1-7
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus the Way to the Father
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 8:31-32
Jesus is the Truth, and the Truth Shall Set Us Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 16:31-33
Jesus Tells His Disciples They Will Have Troubles in Life
31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Acts 17:24-31
God Has Given Us Proof That There is an Afterlife
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
The One who said I AM the resurrection and the Life, also said I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life...He added that He who comes to Me will live and have life, even though he will die on earth...
Jesus gives us great hope about the afterlife we are going to have, because why would He lie, when He says that if we know God, then we know Him...Jesus called Himself the Son of God...And the Son of God would not lie...He said that He was the Truth, and that He testified to Truth, and that those that hold onto His teachings will know the Truth and the Truth will set us free...Even freedom from our own deaths...We can take heart because even with all the troubles and problems and illness and aging that goes on while one is on earth, because He has overcame the world, and even death...So Truth overcomes death...
God is God...And He nothing is impossible for Him...Therefore, death is not the final word is His eyes...He is in control of our universe, and He does not allow death to be a finality...Our death was not intended to be an ending...We are His children, and He does not to see His children all to die or His Son die...So He resurrected His Son to give us proof that there is Life after death...
I believe that in the Kingdom of God, in the Kingdom of His Heaven, that there will be a place that He has prepared for us...Our death is to be a beginning, a rebirth after our earthly life...We might compare it to how our life changed from the womb we lived at the earliest of our ages, until we were born...We began a new life...After death, we will have a new beginning and be reborn again...The One who said I AM the Resurrection and the Life, and He who comes to Me will live even though He dies on earth is telling us about the Way, the Truth, and beginning of a new Life…
