1 Corinthians 2:9-16
Wisdom from the Spirit
9 However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"— 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:
16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord
that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
Acts 17:24-28
God is Near Us
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Isaiah 55:6-9
God's Thoughts are not Our Thoughts
6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
John 6:44-51
God Draws Us Near Him
44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
If we believe that no eye and no ear has heard and no mind has been able to conceive what God has prepared for those who believe in Him and love Him, then we must go beyond our eyes, our ears, and our minds...We must use our imaginations to describe Him and to think of Him...Infinity and Eternity are terms to describe Him, that go far, far beyond my abilities...So we cannot see or hear Him, but we are told to call on Him when He is near...And that He is not far from any of us -both believer and non-believer...
There is One who has seen God...The One who has seen Him tells us that He is the Bread of Life...And that no one has seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has seen the Father...Very truly He tells us, the one who believes will be given eternal life...
So since no mans' eye has seen no ear has heard what God can do, we can only get a glimpse of who He really is...How can we describe what He can do, when no one has seen or not one ear has heard (what He can do)...Because, I am deficient in not only my words but in my intellect and knowledge to describe Him, I know only a part of Him...There is Someone who lives beyond my imagination that I cannot come close to explaining to anyone fully...There is Someone who lives beyond my reason and my logic...Yet, He is the most Important One of all...He gives life and breath to everyone and He gives us everything else...One who controls all life and also Eternal Life...But as I write this I can see that His Thoughts are not my thoughts...His Understanding is infinitely beyond my understanding, so I can only give others a part and partial description of the most Infinite One, the Eternal One...I often wonder, of the Complex, what are we missing in seeing Him?...But He sent His Son to help us better understand Him...And the Living God wants us to seek Him...He comes to us so subtly...He comes to us so gently, the we might miss Him if it were not for our roots of faith, and His willingness to draw those who believe in Him near...Thank you God for sending your Son to better help us understand who You are...
