Matthew 12:46-50
Jesus' Brothers and Sisters
46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Isaiah 55:8
God's Thoughts are Not Man's Thoughts
8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
Acts 17:24-28
Our Appointed Time
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Following God and doing His will broadens our thinking...In God's way of thinking, we are all His children and each of us are brothers and sisters...God's thoughts can be complicated since we know, according to St. Paul, that He made the world and everything in it...He is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands...And He is not served by human hands, as if He needs anything...Rather, He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else that we have...From one man God made all the nations, so that we should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out our appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands, and where we will live...God did this so that we would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and perhaps find Him, though He is not far from any one of us...For in Him we live and move and have our being...As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring...Because God can do things like this makes His thinking not like our thinking...God is eternally above us in the understanding of things...
God sets the time when we are on earth and He knows the places we will live...We are a part of the earth and the universe...God has given us the privilege to be here at our appointed time...During our time on earth, we experience our lives through our thoughts and our emotions...Our thoughts and emotions make us susceptible to our own personal desires and our own personal pleasures...Our personal pleasures and desires seem to keep us apart from our neighbors...So even though we are a part of the earth, our personal preferences, emotions, and thoughts keep us from being one with the universe...We are more than likely live in a world with a small circle of family and friends...Our personal beliefs seem to keep us from wanting to love all our neighbors and maybe limits us into expanding our thinking...These personal things may even be an obstacle in getting closer to our LORD...These personal things are more of a selfish nature...Our selfishness is an obstacle between us and the LORD...
But God gives us this free will...And by God giving us free will we get to do these personal things and also to choose whether we believe in Him or not to believe in Him...Jesus teaches us to think more of others and more about His Father...Jesus teaches us to be unselfish...Jesus wants us to think more spiritually than earthly...By following His teachings we learn to broaden our thinking, and to use our hearts more...And by doing this, we are even more a part of God's universe, closer to our neighbors, and closer to Him...When we follow His will, everyone following His Father becomes a brother and sister to us...
