Acts 1:3-5
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
After His suffering, Jesus appears to His disciples...Jesus had suffered on the cross...He gave them many convincing proofs He was alive...He continued to be with them over forty days...The disciples over the forty days knew He had survived death and was our LORD and Savior...
Now convinced by many convincing proofs Jesus is alive, He leaves and is ascended to heaven...The Holy Spirit comes on the day of Pentecost to the disciples...
The disciples knowing He is alive will still be faced with trials, sufferings, and tribulations... The Sanhedrin jails and persecutes the apostles (Acts 5:17).. .Their lives are changed, but they still have problems...
Just because we believe in Jesus does not exempt us from the trials and problems of life...The disciples learned this over time and they were with Jesus for three years...Suffering does come, but Jesus has overcome this world and we have heaven to look forward too...And He will be with us...
