Acts 17:1-4
Paul Reasoned With His Listeners
1 When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. 2 As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,” he said. 4 Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.
The Apostle Paul was out much of his time after he met Jesus on the road to Damascus talking to people about Him...As was Paul's custom, he went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with those listening from the Scriptures...Paul used reason to convince people to faith in Jesus and in God...
Ravi Zacharias says, “God has disclosed Himself in descriptive terms that give us enough information to be able to know who He is, and He has hidden enough of Himself for us to learn the balance between faith and reason.”...
Faith is not unreasonable or being unreasonable...Faith gets closer to reason as one's faith grows...Eventually believers see that faith and reason must meet, and that there must be a balance between faith and reason...Faith and reason must meet to believe in God...For God to exist, faith and reason will meet one eternal day...Faith and reason may become one when we meet God and His Son...
God gives us a mind that is capable of knowing that there is a God...But God has limited our human minds with respect to His...When our minds are compared to His knowledge and His mind, we are very limited...We have only a limited understanding and limited amount of reason that God has given us...That is where faith comes in...God created us this way...He created us only to have a limited amount of reason, and our faith must be added to our reasoning to believe in Him...Believing in God on faith alone without using our rational minds that He exists, does not get us to believe in Him either...We must believe in Him, with our reasonable mind as well as have faith in Him, to believe in Him...We need both faith and reason to have a solid foundation of belief in our LORD...
