Black Forest Cobbler
Ingredients
1 box Devil's Food cake mix
2 cans (21 ounces each) cherry pie filling
3/4 cup butter, melted (1 1/2 sticks)
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9"x 13 " glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Evenly spread both cans of cherry pie filling in baking dish. Sprinkle dry cake mix over cherry pie filling (check for cherry pits to be safe), spreading evenly. Last, slowly pour melted butter evenly over dry cake mix, covering most of the dry mix (see tip below). Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly on top (optional).
Bake on middle rack of oven for 40-45 minutes. The cobbler is ready when edges of the baking dish are bubbling and top is baked.
Allow to cool for 10 minutes - serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top....enjoy!
Store in fridge up to 3 days.
Tips
After evenly pouring the melted butter on top, I use a spoon to try to cover most of the dry cake mix. Some people like to use more butter, but I only use 3/4 cup, what the original recipe calls for and it turns out perfect.
Be sure to look out for cherry pits - always check.
