Ramayana
Class Information -
This class covers: Learn the core tenets of Dharma through the example of Shri Rama. Focus is on the Ramayanas of Valmiki, Tulsidas and Kamban. Use the animated Ramayana DVD to start the year. Cover the main episodes in the story of Ramayana. Each class should have an activity. Teach the Hanuman Chalisa and Ramastuti.

This week we went over our Ramayan character scripts. We also reviewed chapter 22. We discussed how Hanuman regained his powers and his journey to Lanka. The kids also played some Ramayan trivia.

This week we revised chapter 20. We discussed how Ram and Sugreve defeated Vali. The kids also played some Ramayan trivia.
The homework for this week is:
- Read chapters 21
- Practice your prayers!!! All students must have both prayers memorized!
-Write your script. Each student picked a character for annual day. They should have a short script (just a couple of lines) written about their character. Character assignments were sent last week

Today we had a meditation class. Students learned about bridges formed between friends and how meditation can help form those bridges. We also learned how to meditate effectively and how to be active listeners. The homework for next week is:
-Read chapters 13,14,15, and 16
-Meditate for at least 5 minutes every day

Jai Shree Ram Parents!
This weeks class was quite busy. We first had pictures taken of each Dharma Level that will be made available soon. After that in class we reviewed 3 important Rishis: Rishi Vishvamitra, Rishi Vashitha and Rishi Valmiki. We then reviewed chapter 8 which was the marriage of Devi Sita and Bhagwan Ram and subsequent events, such as the meeting of Parshuram. We also discussed the various interpretations of the Ramayana, in relation to whether Devi Sita did or did not have a Svayamvar. The homework for next class is:
- Find out who the 10th Avatar of Vishnu is.
- Read/ Re-read Chapter 9 & 10
- Practice you prayers

This week we reviewed chapter 7 from our Dharma 4 textbook. We talked about Bhagvan Rama’s time with Rishi Vishvamithra and how he obtained Divine weapons. We do not have class next week. The homework until next class is:
- Read Chapter 8
- Find out what is Bhagvan Rama’s sisters name
- Find out what prayer did Rishi Vishvamithra write
- Practice you prayers

This week we reviewed chapters 5 and 6 from the textbook. We talked about the curse Dasharatha received, how he got married, and the story of how he had his children. We also discussed their qualities, how Kaikeyi received her boons and Ramnavmi.
Homework:
The homework for this is week is to read chapters 7 and 8. We received textbooks this week, so every student should have one with them.
We will be reviewing chapter 7 and 8 next week in class.

This week we reviewed chapters 1 and 2 from our Dharma 4 textbook. We talked about the structure of the Ramayan its author, Rishi Valmiki. We also discussed Rishi Valmiki’s life and how he became a Rishi. The homework for this is week is to read chapters 3 and 4 from the textbook.
