Class & Homework -

January 12

We began class with a quick talk with all the parents regarding our final presentation, what we have been discussing in class, and what we plan on continue doing. If you have any questions feel free to contact me or any of the other volunteers/teachers.

Today's topic was the next avatar of Vishnu which was Krishna (the 8th avatar). In class, we shared the story of how he was born and discussed his early childhood. We ended class with practicing Lingashtakam. We will send a printout of Lingasthakam along with your child next week.

October 6

Today in class, we began with an introduction to Lord Bhramha, followed by a discussion of Lord Durga. We introduced the story of how Lord Durga destroyed the evil Asuras. After this, the class practiced a shloka for Saraswati. We recited this shloka when we visited Saraswati and Lord Durga. Upon returning to class, we finished with our closing prayers.

Once again, no homework and overall the class did a better job of paying attention and being focused.

This past Sunday the students received their textbooks. We went over who Bhagwan is. We also learned about Bhagwan Brahma, including the symbols behind some of the items he holds. Finally, we listened to story 2.2 and discussed possible meanings behind the story. Some themes we heard were “don’t be selfish” and “help others before yourself.” It was great to see the kids participating and engaging the first day of class!
