Class & Homework-

May 12

We gave a test to assess the competency of the kids to see if they could move to the next level. We will convey the results to Bhakti with the names of the kids to be moved to next level.

It was a pleasure teaching kids whole of last year.

Have a wonderful summer break.

April 28

1. Reviewed the story 'Bhola Tapan'. Asked the kids to write words from the story and then practiced those words with students emphasizing on the sounds of various letters and their meanings to increase the vocabulary.

2. We are in the home stretch of this year's classes. Please continue working with your child. We will give a test on 12th of May to decide to promote kids to next class (Level C). Any feedback in this regard is welcomed.

3. Worked with individuals who find it challenging to recognize matras hence the words and and sentences as per their needs to bring them to the level of most of the kids.

April 7

Continued with 'Ta'varg. reviewed the homework in the class which gave the children opportunity to read and write. Also worked on vocublary and the soft and hard sound of different letters.

Kids are enthusiastic about learning, especially when they are asked to come to the board and write. Continue your support in this effort.

This week's home work:

Story on page 30-32 of text book. Will ask to write words from the story and the read the story in the class.

March 24

Most of students are progressing and getting a better grip of the structure of this language as this is different than that of English what they are used to. Those serious students are doing great and that motivates us more, too.

During these closing weeks of the year, our emphasis is more on building their understanding f the language that may help them in coming years. So we are giving more practice on usage of Hindi Matra syatem, and usage of Hindi vowels (swars), writing words, recognising unique sounds, like Bha, Dha, Jha, Dha, DDha, Tha, TTha, Gha,.....

Despite repeated concerns and notes here, the students are there without their bag, or w/o just note-books/pen/pencil/books.

Some students are not there, yet, and are finding it difficult, which is more due to lack of practice, inadequate contribution/participation from home, and lack of courage to overcome the initial challenges with a new language. We have discussed with parents of such students as well, so they are aware of it.

March 17

1. We focussed on 'ta'Varg group of letters including all the matras for all the letters of the group.

2. Students were asked to write words starting with those letters

3. For reviewing purposes they were asked to come to the board and write the word. Some of the staudents are still finding it challenging to write letter with the matra as they write the matra separately. We encourage you to check the notebook of your student to see how they are doing.

4. Home work for this week:

a. Read pages 24-27 of the text book Kilkari 2

b. Fill in the blanks for page 28 of the textbook.

5. Please make sure your child brings textbook, excercise book and a notebook and pencil to class every sunday so they dont write on loose papers which they borrow from other students.

February 3

1. Continued with our story 'Tam Tam ka Ghoda'. Asked kids to write words from the story and then read some poems.

2. We are focussing on kids getting the sounds of different letters correctly as most of them have dfficulty distinguishing between 'GHAR' and 'GAMLA" and all other letters.

3. Please spend some time with your child on saturday to practice and complete the hndi homewrk.

Homework: Page 21-23 of excercise book.

January 13

Last class we combined the two sections( one conducted by Anju and other by Dinesh) as we feel some students will strive to pickup more if they learn along with senior students. Some of the kids were really excited about it and made sincere effort to read the story which we covering in the class. Students who are not upto that level yet will be helped separately so they can come up to that level.

We covered homonyms in the class ( for example 'Maang' , 'Taang' etc,), started reading story on page 23(Tamtam ka Ghoda) which uses the words from tavarg group.

Home work:

Students to read the rest of the story on their own and there will be test on the words from the story.

January 6

The homework today is to review we had a pre test today on forming words. We covered how words are formed and how to use it with mathras. The advice level b practiced reading and understanding how to read words in Hindi that have the same letter combined.

November 11

Both classes were combined for this day. We reviewed some fun facts about Hindi language, and tricks of remembering alphabet (all letters are in pairs, all letters sound the same in the alphabet line, Hindi is a phonetic language). We also played a category game where we practiced reading/writing simple words by using all letters and maatras.

November 4

Higher level students( Anju Goel's class) reviewed the homework and read story on page 10 of the text boo. kids are getting there as most of them are able to read most of the words and and put effort to recognize the matra. continue doing what you are doing as regards to home work. This story used words from first group of Vyanjans (K Varg).

We will be working on 2nd group named ChVarg. I have asked students to practice the matras for all the letters of this group(Page 11-14) of the text book. We will do excercise and reading related tothesse letters in the class,

Lower Level students (Dinesh's class)practiced writing words with matras.

October 7

Hindi Senior (B1) - Reading and writing practice in progress with newer words and understanding.

With junior section (B2) of the class, I continued with Matras. Asked them to write and practice of each sound. Promoted one student to senior section -B1. Gave them an understanding around using short sound vs long sound of "ee".

Assigned home work to write in the "SWAR" (Hindi vowels) Practice section of the book for usage of "matras" and practice alphabets on their notebooks or Sulekh book.

(Next step - to filter through the second group, so that only those students are in this level who are meet the pre-requisite qualification. I recommended the students and emphasized that they do practice every day. Those who are not well verse with their alphabets, may not be able to continue in level B after 3-4 weeks. They need to speak the sounds while reading and or writing so that they remember which letter represents which sound.

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY AND THE PARENTS NEED TO PAY ATTENTION, TOO, THAT THEIR WARDS ARE PREPARING ENOUGH SO THAT THEY MAY STAY BACK IN LEVEL B.

Note to Parents:

1. They make sure their student is coming to school, i.e. Must have 2 pencils, eraser, notebook and their class books. And that they do practice daily so when they come back after a week, they don't have to start at the same place as we started this week. Student come without writing material -note books and pencil/pen. Providing basic needs takes away lot of time, thus reducing the time available for learning.

2. Students come without Note-book for writing and pen/pencil for that matter.

3. Some students don't even bring their books.

September 30

After initial start with some new introduction, "R" in Parv and Garm, I assigned the senior section (B1) of the class to Vidhi for practice of similar words and others.

With junior section (B2) of the class, I continued with Matras, and covered upto Short soumd of "E". Assigned home work to write in the "SWAR" (Hindi vowels) Practice section of the book for usage of "matras" and practice alphabets on their notebooks or Sulekh book.

September 23

We have split the class into two. Kids ready for level B study and those who needs to work more to be ready.

Next step is to filter through the second group. We started with some refreshers and recaps around their expected

level of awareness. Those who don't catch up in next 4-5 weeks, may have to settle back in Level A and keep

working on their basic awareness on recognizing alphabets and be able to write them.

The class was split into the beginners and the intermediate. The intermediate class went over vocabulary and how to read. That will be the main goal for that class. The beginners will be becoming fluent with the alphabet and matras. The students are to study there alphabet and matras for homework, and be well prepared for next class.

Note to Parents:

They make sure their student is comeing to school, i.e. Must have 2 pencils, eraser, notebook and their class books. And that they practise daily so when they come back after a week, they don't have to start at the same place as we started this week.

September 16

All the Hindi classes just got their book, so there was no lesson. As for Hindi B their is no homework for, but all supplies must be with them every class.
