April 1st-

Material Covered in Class:

  • We reviewed numbers 1-20 (forewords and backwards) and had a wok day for letters.

Homework:

  • The homework for this week is to practice numbers and letter for the quiz next class!

March 25th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • Did the following letters

  • प - पतंग patang

  • फ - फल phal

  • ब - बतक bathak

  • भ - भालू bhalu

  • म - मछली machli

March 18th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • The class has learned until the letter फ. We learned two new letters – प फ today. We talked about words that started with the letters प and फ.

  • We also reviewed all the letters that we have learned so far.

Homework:

  • I would encourage the parents to please work with their kids to recognize the letters that we have done so far.

  • For the Annual day, we will showcase all that we have learned in class. My thought is that every kid will hold a letter and say it along with a word starting with that letter. We will also say the rhyme – Machli jal ki hai Rani.

February 18th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • We revised numbers and had a quick quiz on the numbers from 1-20.

  • We also started to revise colors and vowels.

Homework:

  • The homework for this week is to keep practicing numbers, colors, and letters (specifically 15-18).

  • Parents - please make sure students have sharpened pencils for each class!

February 11th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • Dinesh, stepped up and substituted for the regular teacher.

  • Worked on re-iterating the sounds for their memory and advised them to speak the sound while writing so that they know what they are writing.

  • Spent time with individual students helping their level of understanding and guiding them towards progress on learning "Swars and Vyanjans".

  • Also shared the tips on similar looking ones like 'V' and 'B'; 'M' and 'BH', 'P' and 'SH', 'DH' and 'GH' and two 'Shs' - 21 and 'P'.

January 28th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • We had a test this week.

  • Nothing new – kids need to know their letters for another test in a couple of weeks

January 21st-

Material Covered in Class:

  • We reviewed all the vowels and alphabets covered until the previous class. Today, we covered the letters ज (जग) , झ (झरना). We also recited the poem Machi jal ki hai rani.

Homework:

  • Test next week:

    • Numbers 1-20. Kids need to be able to say them.

    • All Vowels – अ -अ: (write)

    • Letters until झ - झरना

    • Hi Anu - The test will be both oral as well as written. Numbers will be oral. Words associated with each letter will be oral.

    • Written portion will include vowels and consonants till jh. The website will most likely get updated tonight .

  • Also, all the letters covered in class need to be completed in the workbook.

December 17th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • Today we revised the letters to gh (gh se ghar), colors, and numbers (1-20)

Homework:

  • Finish writing letters up until gh

October 29th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • Taught ei – ainak (glasses) to the kids.

  • Lots of kids KG and below need more help at home writing the letters.

October 22nd-

Material Covered in Class:

  • We revised the following vowels and a word associated with each one of them:

    • a = anaar (pomegranate)

    • aa = aam (mango)

    • i = imli (tamarind)

    • ii = iikh (sugarcane)

    • ri - Rishi

    • u - ullu (owl)

    • uu = uun (wool)

  • We introduced:

    • e = edhi (ankle)

    • ai - ainak (spectacles).

Homework:

  • HW is for students to complete all the pages from a through e in their cursive writing books.

  • Several impromptu questions were asked of students and those who gave the correct answers were gifted a coin (nickel, dime or quarter).

October 15th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • We covered the second, third and fourth letter of the Hindi alphabet.

Homework:

  • The homework for this week is to complete pages 2, 3, and 4 in the textbook reviewing the letters we covered in class.

  • Just a friendly reminder for all students to bring the textbook and a pencil to class every week!

September 24th-

Material Covered in Class:

  • Numbers 1-10

  • Colors

  • We also practiced a couple of sentences in Hindi like saying our names in Hindi.
