April 14

We did some words in the classroom. Parents need to sign the paperwork.

1. Read page 19 of Paathmala.

April 7

• Kaushal Ji called out on some of the students to try to read some of the stories from the Hindi C

books.


• We discussed the aims of Hindi B and Hindi C, and what you would have to know in order to be

comfortable in Hindi C.

• Then the volunteers said some sentences in Hindi and the students tried to write them down.

• Then we looked at two spellings of the same word and the students discussed which spelling was

right.


Homework:

• Complete page 14 of the “Paatmaala” book

• Make sure to memorize the Annual Day song.

March 24

Namaste! Thank you all for your cooperation with our online learning this week, we appreciate it! Today in class we started by reading a short hindi story, where each kid got a chance to read a least one sentence. We then picked out a few words from the story that the kids needed to write down (please take a photo of their work and send it in this group). To finish class we watched a video which all of the kids seemed to enjoy!


Homework:

Finish writing the words from the story and send a photo in the chat

March 17

What we did in class:

• Since a lot of the students were gone watching the new auditorium inauguration, the remaining

students watched panchtantras while it was going on.

• When all the students came back, we kept watching, but we asked some students to write some

sentences from the video on the board.

• We went over a story from Hindi C, so the kids know what is coming for them next year in Hindi.

Homework:

• Make sure to memorize the Annual Day song.

• Watch any cartoon episode you like in Hindi, but not a Bollywood movie. Write five Hindi

sentences about the cartoon. Whatever you watch, Kaushal ji will ask you questions about it.

March 10

What we did in class:

• Kaushal ji told one student to say a sentence in Hindi, and then the other students translated it to

English.

• The volunteers said a sentence in English, then the students translated it to Hindi.

• Kaushal Ji wrote some words on the board in Hindi, then the students read them


• We also reviewed how different letters and matras combine to make sounds.

Homework:

• Find one Hindi bhajan, and write the meaning of it.

• Make sure to memorize the Annual Day song. We have 4 Sundays left.

• Memorize how to say all the different times such as, 1:30, 2:30, 3:45, in Hindi.

March 3

What we did in class:

• Kaushal Ji picked out on one student to say a sentence in English, and then the other students

tried to translate it to Hindi.

• Then we watched a video in Hindi about how all of Newton’s laws and discoveries were based off

of Sanskrit readings. Then the students tried to translate it into English.

• Kaushal Ji picked out on one student to say a sentence in Hindi, and then the other students tried

to translate it to English.

• We reviewed our annual day song, and watched a video about what it is about.

• We watched a Hindi panchtantra, and then Kaushal Ji asked the students to try to translate it.

• Kaushal Ji wrote some Hindi words with different spellings on the board, and the students

guessed which one was right.


Homework:

• Make sure to memorize the Annual Day song. We only have 2 Sundays left to prepare it.

• The homework is the same as what we did last week.

February 25

What we did in class:

• First, Kaushal Ji wrote some words in English, and the students wrote them down in Hindi.


• Then we discussed over what the students did for their homework.

• Kaushal Ji wrote a sentence in English and the students translated into Hindi.


• Then we reviewed the song that we are going to be singing during Annual Day.

• Kaushal Ji picked out on one student to say a sentence in Hindi, and then the other students tried

to translate it to English.

• Then we played a kahoot about basic Hindi Sentences.

Homework:

• Make sure to memorize the Annual Day song. We only have 3 Sundays left to prepare it.

• Send Kaushal Ji the work we did in the beginning of the class in WhatsApp.

February 18

Namaste! To start today's class we watched a video and wrote down words we heard in hindi and translated them to English. Then we played a game, where students translated hindi sentences to english. Everyone did awesome and had lost of fun today!

Write one sentence using the word "Sambhav" (संभव)

February 11

What we did in class:

• The first activity we did is that one student told the student next to them a sentence in English,

then the other student said the same sentence in Hindi.

• We listened to the bhajan that we are going to sing on April 23 for annual day called “Ram Ko

Dekh Kar Sri Janak Nandana.” Then the students read some of the sentences from the lyrics. And

tried to translate them.


• The students wrote down some of the words from the bhajan in their notebooks.

• We listened to the Hanuman Chalisa.


Homework:

• Write five new unique sentences.

• Start preparing for the annual day performance on April 23.

February 4

What we did in class:

• At the start of class, Kaushal Ji asked all the kids to summarize what they have learned in Hindi,

like matras, swaras, colors, fruits, and numbers.

• We watched a video reviewing all the swaras and how to pronounce all of them.


• We played a game with boys versus girls, in which they guessed the colors of some random

objects in the classroom like the chairs, the TV, the markers, the notebooks, etc..


Homework:

• Write 5 unique sentences in Hindi.

• For the people who didn’t complete the homework last week, write the lyrics for one bhajan in

Hindi.

January 28

• First, the volunteers checked the students homework.

• We looked at the lyrical video for the song, “Narayan Mil Jayega.” The teacher paused the video

on some of the sentences and asked the students to read them. For example:


• At the end of class, we did a kahoot, in which we converted Hindi words into English words.


Homework:

• Pick one bhajan and write all the words down in Hindi.

January 21

Namaste!Thank you all got coming to conferences. It was wonderful to meet everyone! For class we watched a video and translated words into hindi. We ended class early so the kids could attend the arti upstairs.

December 17

Namaste! We started class with translating simple sentences into hindi. Then we tried to write some simple words in hindi. We were able to take time to make sure everyone understood. We finished with a fun game where we practiced our skills.

December 10

• We watched a Hindi video about the things that India has invented and the students were asked

to translate it.

• The students asked the students next to them a question in English, and then they had to

translate that to Hindi.

• The teacher wrote some English words on the board, and the students wrote them in Hindi.


• We listened to Raghupati Raghava Rajaram. The teacher wrote some of the words from the

bhajan on the board in English and the students tried to listen and find those words in the lyrics of

the Bhajan.

• Write these words in Hindi in your notebooks. Click here

• Memorize any Bhajan on Ram.

November 19

Namaste! During today's class, we started off reveiwing numbers and colors. We also watched the Jungle Book in hindi. We tried translating some words we heard in the video.


Homework:

If possible, please read Panchtantra stories in hindi with your kids and learn new words.

Memorize alphabet and write them down.

November 12

What we learned in class:

• We reviewed counting from one to twenty.

• We looked at some numbers and the students tried guessing how to spell them, which helped

them to review their Hindi alphabets.

• Then we converted the Hindi spelling of numbers into English numbers.


• We looked at a video of the new temple being built in Ayodhya. The video was in Hindi, so we

listened to some of the words that were confusing and the teacher translated them.

• We played a kahoot, which had questions about the first letter of a name.


Homework:

• Read Hindi numbers from 1-20. (Optional: write 1-20 as well).

• Memorize 1-25. (If you already know 1-25, go from 26-50).

November 5

Namaste! Today's class focused on writing and understanding matras. We also listened to some bajans and read a few of the lyrics in hindi. Today class was very attentive and was willing to participate.


Homework:

Write 21 words with at least 2 matras each. Try writing at least 3 words a day. Please sign you child's work.

October 29

Namaste! During today's class we reviewed the order of the hindi alphabet and differentiated vowels and consonants. We also started working on matras. We wrote English words in hindi in order to get some practice writing matras. 


Homework: 

Copy down Page 1 and 2 from the green/blue book in your notes. 

Copy down Page 5 from the orange book in your notes.

October 22

Namaste! Today's class was cut short : class ended at 12. We just practiced writing and all the kids got their books. All kids that were not at today's class will get them next week.

Namaste! During today's class, we focused on identifying letters in words. We also reviewed the days of the week. Next, we listened to Shiv Tandam Strotram and tried to read a few words. Next week, we will start working on matras, and the kids will get homework for reading and writing. Everyone did great! 


Homework: Memorize alphabets since we will start talking about matras next time. Please sign your child's class work.

Namaste! During today's class we we went over letters and what sounds they make with a quick game. Everyone wrote in hindi and English days of the week in their notebooks. We mainly focused on translating English to hindi. Everyone participated and was very focused!

Namaste! During today's class we studied hindi letters and a easy way to remember them. We had all the kids try to write a few letters as well. Everyone did wonderful and picked up fast.
