Important Resources:

FIRST AND FOREMOST, the Kilkari hindi books. There are plenty of passages in this book to practice reading.

SECOND, a letter chart is on the website

Make sure to keep practicing! At this point the kids are practicing reading words and putting together sentences slowly, if you need any indication of what they should be practicing.

In class we went over the quiz and the last few of the hindi alphabets and did a Kahoot for everyone to test what they know. Once we get the letters down, we can start reading and writing more

Homework: Memorize hindi alphabet -- Write it down a few times and read it out loud. If everyone has their homework done by next week we’ll do another kahoot.

MOST IMPORTANT: We had a take home quiz today! The quiz is in the whatsapp, fill it out and turn it in within 5 days -- no help from anyone else! This is also the homework

In the first half of class, we practiced for the quiz by giving the students words to write down. This went very well, so we don’t anticipate any issues with completing the quiz.

December 6

We did well on the quiz! Good job everyone.

Remember to keep memorizing the Hindi letters! It’s the most important part of the Hindi Level A class.

  • Wednesday - बुधवार - Budhavaar

Most students were able to identify most days as well as answer what days were before and after others, so good job there!

Remember -- कल (kal) can mean tomorrow or yesterday, depending on context of the sentence.

We learned some colors today!

  • White - सफ़ेद

  • Yellow - पीला

  • Blue - नीला

  • Black - काला

We also practiced using the hindi vowels again:

  • Long “a” sounds, आ = ा, Using on क = का

How do you know if something is a vowel? Try making a sound without moving your tongue or touching any other part of your mouth with it. There are only a few sounds made easily
