This class covers: Visual introduction to Hindu Deities, Asuras, Festivals through videos, art and crafts. Class teaches kids to recognize basic patterns and conventions. E.g., Krishna is painted blue, but his clothing is painted yellow. The hear the popular narratives of Devatas from the Hindu tradition. Teach the ‘Om Jai Jagadish Hare’ Arati. Each class starts with the Namaste gesture and recitation of Om!

Class started with the chanting the 4 slokas - Vakrathunda, Shuklam Bharadharam, Gururbrahma, Karagre Vasathe Lakshmi
Then, reviewed the Dhasavathar stories.
The class also practiced the Dhasavathar skit with both groups of students.
The class ended with singing the 6 stanzas of Jai Jagadheesh Hare Arathi...

January 21
Today we had parent teacher conferences and answered questions of parents. We colored a bow and arrow and sang some songs for Ram and Ganesha.
January 7
Today we started with slokas and then we recapped the stories that we talked about last class. Then we watched videos on Narasimha and Vamana. Finally, we sang Om Jai Jagadish.
The homework this week is to practice the first three paragraphs of Om Jai Jagadish which can be found in page 5. Also practice all the slokas we sing at the start of class

December 10
Today we started with slokas and then we recapped the stories that we talked about last class. Then we recapped the Dashavataras and watched videos on the first three avatars. Then we sang Om Jai Jagadish. The homework this week is to practice Om Jai Jagadish which can be found in page 5 and the slokas we have been learning. On the google form we are missing a student named Rvet for Dharma 1. I have emailed a few times about this but it is still not fixed. It would be much appreciated if it is fixed before next class.

Shubh Deepavali! Today we talked about what we are all doing for Deepavali. We sang Vakratunda Mahakaya and Shuklam Bharadaram. Then we went upstairs to the mandir for a pooja. Celebrate well!

- We started by saying Om three times
- sang Vakratunda Mahakaya and learned Shuklam Bharadaram Vishnu
- We heard the story of how Rama was exiled to the forest for 14 years and how lighting lamps for Diwali lets Rama find his way home
- we made Diyas out of paper to celebrate Diwali
October 8
Today we started off with 3 Oms. Then we heard the story about Ganesha and Karthikeya when they raced around the world 3 times. We colored Ganesha on page 11 and some of them made paper airplanes. We also practiced Vakratunda Mahakaya and Om Jai Jagadish. The homework for next week is to practice those two slokas.

September 24
Today in Dharma 1 we started by folding our hands and saying namaste to everyone. Then we practiced Vakratunda Mahakaya. We heard two Ganesha stories. The fist one was about Kubera. The second one was about Sindoor. Then we colored Ganesha’s picture on page 10 of the books the children got today. Then we sang the first paragraph of Om Jaya Jagadish Hare on page 5. The homework for the kids is to practice Vakratunda Mahakaya and Om Jaya Jagadish Hare for next time.
September 17
Namaste everyone,
Shushma told a story about Ganesh janma. Ganesh Chaturthi is tomorrow so we talked about how we celebrate it and what different sweets Ganesha likes. Also we made puja thali for Ganesh Chaturthi during our arts and crafts time.
We also learned sloka- Vakratunda mahakaya surya koti samaprabha.
Please practice the sloka at home with kids. You will receive the text book next weekend and I can tell you where to find the sloka.
