SPECIAL GUEST THIS WEEK - Megan Williams

On Thursday, we will have a special guest visiting our band classes and marching band rehearsal.  Megan Williams is a clarinet teacher and former band director.  She is the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestras of Atlanta, and she works with social media for the Georgia Music Educators Association.  She is a former DRUM MAJOR of the University of Georgia Redcoats Marching Band.  She is a Backun performing artist, which means she performs exclusively on Backun brand clarinets, and represents the Backun brand around the Southeastern US.  Mrs. Williams grew up in Rincon and graduated from Effingham County High School, just down the road from us.
 

FOOTBALL UPDATES

This week, we travel to Bryan County.  It is their homecoming.  They have invited us to perform our show after the game.  

Next week is FALL BREAK, but we still have a football game on Friday!  We will not rehearse on Thursday, October 9; instead, we will rehearse starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 10th.  After rehearsal, we will break for dinner, which will (hopefully) be provided.  Then we will perform at the game as usual.

LETTER JACKET ORDERS - October 7

If you earned a varsity letter last year (or earlier), you can order a letter jacket!  Bring your varsity letter and an order form before school on Tuesday, Oct. 7th.  The sales rep will be outside the lunch room before school.  OR, you can order online:  https://www.neffco.com/neffjacketshop
OR you can order online and still visit the sales rep to try on a jacket to make sure you get the right size.  (This is recommended.)

MARCHING BAND COMPETITIONS

We will compete twice this season:

• Saturday, September 27th:  "Band Blast" at Southeast Bulloch HS.

• Saturday, October 25th:  East Georgia Marching Band Championships at Statesboro HS.

Competition days are an all-day affair, so please plan accordingly.
 

PARADES

We typically have three parades each year:

• Saturday, December 13:  Christmas Parade

• Saturday, January  17:  MLK Parade

• Saturday, April 4:  Livestock Parade
