Our first Tuesday afternoon Symphonic Band rehearsal THIS TUESDAY (November 15), 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., in preparation for our upcoming Christmas Concert. Remember that all after-school rehearsals are REQUIRED for Symphonic Band, and unexcused absence affects your grade. If you need to miss rehearsal, you MUST communicate IN WRITING (text the Band Hotline, send Mr. Carter an email, etc.) by MONDAY AFTERNOON. You may miss up to half of the after-school rehearsals for school activities (sports, club trips, etc.), after that it is an unexcused absence.
No SCGMB Gospel Choir this week; we will rehearse WEDNESDAY (Nov. 16), 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the BAND ROOM. It's not too late to join us if you are interested!
With Friday night's win over Crawford County, we are headed to a second round game on Friday against Swainsboro High School. We will rehearse on Thursday, 3:34 - 5:00 p.m. We will have a final run-through at the end of this rehearsal, so if you are not present or do not participate in the run-through, you can't do the show on Friday. WE PLAN TO PERFORM THE WHOLE SHOW, marching and everything.
If we win on Friday, we will play either Rabun County (most likely) or Social Circle the day after Thanksgiving. We will take a pep band for that game.
For those who signed up online last week - We are attending the Jazz Band concert at GSU on Thursday. The bus rolls from SCMS at 6:30 p.m. Don't be late or you'll be left!
The annual GMB Dot Sheet Bonfire is tentatively set for SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19th. Bring your dot sheets and drill charts as we celebrate a successful marching season. This is an OPTIONAL event open to marching band members ONLY. The bonfire is hosted by the Carter family in their back yard. More details will be given in rehearsal. Come hungry! We will have free food as well. 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.
When you need to send a message, please text the Band Hotline at (912) 549-0262. If you reply to messages I send to everyone (which are coming through Remind via a random phone number that I do not know), I may not see your message until several days later. If you text the Band Hotline, I almost always see it very quickly, and I try to respond as soon as I can. (Note that I will not respond to text messages I receive while I am teaching a class.)
