UPDATE: I am now told that everything is fixed, and our path to the Band Room will not be affected.
DUE TO CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE ALONG THE WALKWAY BETWEEN THE MAIN BUILDING AND THE BAND ROOM, there is a detour you need to take to get to the Band Room. See the video below for details. You will need to exit the building like you are going to the bus ramp and come in the back door to the Band Room. This will be in effect for the next week or two.

LGPE stands for Large Group Performance Evaluation, and it is our annual assessment for our Symphonic Band. This year's Evaluation will be either Friday, March 13, or Saturday, March 14. We won't know the exact schedule for a few weeks. Please plan accordingly for this very important performance.
Part of our preparation for LGPE is a concert in our auditorium. We invite a guest panel of judges to come and make comments; parents, family, and friends are also welcome. The concert is Tuesday, February 25, at 6:30 p.m. The SCMS 7th/8th Grade Band will perform first, with the high school band taking the stage around 7:15 p.m.
Band Buddies is a program we started last year in which SCHS Band members buddy up with an SCMS Band member who plays a similar instrument. We do this once every other week after school at SCMS. Our first session is Monday, January 27. More details will be given in class.
Officer Candidate School (OCS) is for any current marching band members in grades 9-11 who are interested in a leadership position for the 2020-2021 season. Our first meeting is after school on Friday, February 7, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Some common OCS myths:
MYTH: I'm just a freshman, so I can't be a leader next year.
TRUTH: Yes you can! And besides, it's never too late to start preparing for a leadership position as a junior or a senior.
MYTH: Only the best players/marchers/performers can be leaders.
TRUTH: Leadership simply requires you to be willing to work hard, and to have a positive attitude. Anyone who wants to help the band can be a leader.
MYTH: No one is going to listen to me, so I can't be a leader.
TRUTH: That's actually something we talk about and learn about in OCS. You should come and check it out!
MYTH: I don't have to come to all the OCS meetings, I'll just come to the last one or two.
TRUTH: Bad idea.
