DEVIN G. - March 2
Hope it was a great day!
is tentatively set for April 16th. (This is a change from the originally published date.) Details soon!
Jazz Band meets on Tuesday after school. If you would like another shot at the listening test, we need to do that on MONDAY before TraiLS. See me!
The Livestock Parade is back! The parade is Saturday, April 3. Report to the Band Room at 9:45 a.m. We will be done by noon. I know it is the same day as prom, but we need everyone with us in the morning, please. Let's show off our Superior Band to the community in full force.
Color Guard Auditions will be April 12, 13, 14, and 15 (the week after Spring Break, Monday through Thursday), after school from 3:30 until 5:00 p.m. in the SCHS Gym. We need every band member to convince at least one young lady to audition for next year's group. Audition packets are available now from the front office or from Mr. Carter. Interested 8th graders should see Ms. O at SCMS.
Charles Ives was an American composer in early 20th Century at a time when amateur community bands were extremely popular. Ives loved to experiment with different tonal ideas, and for his Country Band March he was inspired by watching a parade. As the sounds of one band faded away, another would get closer. Ives recognized that these bands played with great enthusiasm, but sometimes they weren't very good! Just try to find the downbeat in this crazy march.
DURING BAND CLASS: Masks are required as you enter the band area, while you are in the instrument storage room (lockers), and at the start of band class. Go directly to your assigned seat in class. Obviously, you will need to remove your mask in order to play (except percussion). Put your mask back on if another section is working. Masks must be put on when we pack up at the end of class.
AFTER SCHOOL: Just like during band camp, masks should be worn at the start of rehearsal, during transitions, and at dismissal. Now that we are starting our regular after-school routine, we will not be doing screening/temperature checks before practice. Please stay home if you are sick. Please go home if you get sick during the school day.
