My name is Eduardo Sanchez and I am a senior Music Education major at Georgia Southern! I grew up in Eatonton, Georgia, but my parents are from Mexico! I've been playing trumpet since 6th grade but have grown up around music all my life.
Fun fact: I have eaten a 4-pound pulled pork sandwich in 21 minutes!
Mr. Sanchez will be with us all the time, every day, from now until the end of April. He will work with all music/band classes at SCHS.
All SCGMB members are expected to participate. Meet at SCHS at 12 noon. The parade starts at the high school. Our portion of the parade ends just before the viaduct on Ogeechee St. (Some parade participants will continue over the viaduct and then turn on Mims Rd. and end at the courthouse.) The parade steps off at 1 p.m.; we should be done by 2 p.m.
The SCGMB Gospel Choir is back every Wednesday after school until 5 p.m.
This Saturday we will perform at the MLK Prayer Breakfast at Georgia Southern on Saturday. If you are riding the bus, report to SCHS at 8 a.m. If a parent is driving you there, the PARENT needs to contact Mr. Carter via email (hank.carter@screven.k12.ga.us) OR text the Band Hotline, (912) 549-0262.
First payment is due SUNDAY, JANUARY 15th! Payment information is included on the trip flyer that was sent home just before the Christmas break. You can view the flyer below, or students can pick up a paper copy in the Band Room.
To sign up for the trip, visit https://tourstore.kellytours.com/
Our tour number is 16871. For detailed instructions, see the last page of the trip flyer (below).
PARENTS WHO WANT TO CHAPERONE: Parents must also sign up online. All parents who travel with us must serve as chaperones. Chaperones MUST have a current background check and be up-to-date with mandated reporter training. Click here for details.
THANK YOU for an awesome job at the SCES PBIS Pep Rally last week!
TraiLS stands for Training for Leadership through Service. It is our leadership training program for all students interested in serving as student leaders in next year's band program. All band members are welcome. Next year's captains, drum major(s?), section leaders, and other leaders will be selected based on TraiLS participation.
Interested in leadership but can't make it to this meeting? Text the Band Hotline and let Mr. Carter know.
Please check the Band Calendar for after-school Symphonic Band rehearsals as we prepare for Large Group Performance Evaluation (aka Concert Festival, aka LGPE). Our first after-school rehearsal is TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 3:30 - 5:00. All LGPE rehearsals are either Tuesday or Thursday after school. Some of those rehearsals will become sectionals, TBA.
The Symphonic Band will perform their LGPE music for a panel of judges at GSU on Thursday, Feb. 23, during the school day. More details to come.
Our LGPE Performance in Savannah will either be on FRIDAY, MARCH 10 or SATURDAY, MARCH 11. We are hoping for a Friday performance.
When you need to send a message, please text the Band Hotline at (912) 549-0262. You can no longer reply to announcements sent via Remind. If you text the Band Hotline, I will try to respond as soon as I can. (Note that I cannot usually respond immediately if I receive a message while I am teaching a class.)
