We had a great first week of Spring Training, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone after school on Tuesday and Thursday this week., 3:45 - 5:00 p.m.
HEY VETERANS - Bring your red water jug!
WHAT TO WEAR FOR SPRING TRAINING: A comfortable t-shirt, shorts, sunglasses, and ATHLETIC SHOES. (Sorry, gang, but crocs are not athletic shoes. No crocs or sandals for marching band, please.) Many students choose to wear a ballcap or visor to keep the sun out of their eyes. Sunglasses are also a great idea.
THAT MEANS:
No blue jeans
No crocs or sandals
NOTE: Masks are no longer required outdoors according to school policy (which follows CDC guidelines). Therefore, masks will not be required once we get outside. Students should bring a mask in case we need to move indoors.
If you have a school-owned instrument at home, it is PAST DUE. Please bring it immediately, or you will have a large debt placed on the debt list.
PLEASE clean out your band locker this week! If I have to clean it out, I will add a $10 locker cleaning fee to the debt list.
Our graduation ceremony is Friday, May 28, at 8 p.m. in the stadium. The band will perform ceremonial music, including the National Anthem and the Alma Mater. This is one of the most important performances of the year, and we need everyone in attendance. (Failure to attend may result in you being removed from the band next year.)
REPORT TIME: 6 p.m. in the Band Room.
WHAT TO WEAR: Gentlemen should wear a button-down shirt with a collar, slacks, dress socks, and dress shoes. A tie is suggested, but not required. Ladies should dress nicely: wear something you would wear if your male companion was wearing a nice shirt and slacks, keeping in mind that your skirt, dress, or shorts need to go past your knee while you are seated.
Fiesta was originally one of Clifton Williams' five Symphonic Dances, commissioned by the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 1964. In the original suite, each of the five dances represented the spirit of a different time and place relative to the background of San Antonio, Texas. Fiesta is an evocation of the excitement and color of the city's numerous Mexican celebrations. Read more here.
