Our graduation ceremony is Friday, May 28, at 8 p.m. in the stadium. The band will perform ceremonial music, including the National Anthem and the Alma Mater. This is one of the most important performances of the year, and we need everyone in attendance. (Failure to attend may result in you being removed from the band next year.)
REPORT TIME: 6 p.m. in the Band Room.
WHAT TO WEAR: Gentlemen should wear a button-down shirt with a collar, slacks, dress socks, and dress shoes. A tie is suggested, but not required. Ladies should dress nicely: wear something you would wear if your male companion was wearing a nice shirt and slacks, keeping in mind that your skirt, dress, or shorts need to go past your knee while you are seated.
AFTER THE CEREMONY: The ceremony usually lasts about an hour, then students need to help bring chairs and equipment back to the band room.
PICK UP YOUR STUDENT in front of the auditorium. Traffic will be a mess, so please be patient.
That means you need to check it out for the summer so you can PRACTICE! You can do so after the graduation ceremony on Friday.
If you have not yet paid your marching band fee deposit for the 2021 season, it is PAST DUE! Your $20 deposit reserves your spot in the show. If you want to march but can't make the deposit yet, please communicate that with Mr. Carter.
All marching band members need to be able to play the Alma Mater and the Fight Song by the time band camp starts in July. Click on your instrument folder below to find PDFs of your music.
Maslanka is a favorite composer of both Ms. O and Mr. Carter. This is his most well-known and epic piece. It's long, but hey, you have the whole summer! Find some time to listen and enjoy the whole thing. It's worth it, we promise! (Yes, it does call for full band, plus piano, plus harp, plus PIPE ORGAN!)
