We will have free pizza and spin the cash prize wheel after rehearsal on Tuesday. This is for all students who sold at least 5 units. We will start at 6 p.m. and go until 7 p.m., but you can leave earlier if you need to.
The Jenkins County game was originally scheduled for Sept 27, but was postponed because of the hurricane. GHSA changed up the playoffs schedule, allowing us to make up the Jenkins County game on November 8. This will be our last regular-season game. If we make the playoffs, the first round game will be on Saturday, November 16. At this time, it is uncertain whether the band would travel to the playoff game or not.
Remember to sell those Butter Braids and Premium Coffee! Order forms and money are due next week (Tuesday, Oct. 29). Here are some pictures you can use on social media to promote the sale.
We will only perform the show once this time, so let's make sure we bring our absolute best!
Watch this space for info about our Dot Sheet Bonfire. The Dot Sheet Bonfire is an end-of-season celebration where we enjoy some SEASONED food and throw our dot sheets, drill charts, etc., into the bonfire. The exact date depends on playoffs and weather, so watch this space carefully for more info in the coming weeks.
Not feeling well? If you have a fever or have been vomiting any time over the past 24 hours, you need to STAY HOME from marching band (and from school). Parents, please communicate with Mr. Carter when your child will miss rehearsal. The best way to do this is to call or text the Band Hotline: (912) 549-0262. Go ahead and put that number in your contacts now so you'll have it if/when you need it.
If you are experiencing COVID symptoms, please STAY HOME, and consider getting tested. Do not come back to band (or school) until you are symptom-free for 24 hours. And of course, hit up the band hotline to let us know what's going on.
If you are willing to serve as a chaperone this season, there are two requirements that must be completed. See our chaperone page for details (click here).
Band members who do not perform during the Final Run-Through are not allowed to perform with the band, regardless of reason (excused or unexcused). Typically, the final run-through happens on Thursday at the end of rehearsal for the Friday football game. Students who miss the final run-through may still be allowed to perform in the stands, but will sit out of the on-field performance.
This rule is in place for the safety of all students, and to underscore the importance of being in rehearsal.
Note that the staff may not allow a student to perform any time we feel that allowing that student on the field puts other students in danger of injury. (Students who don't know their drill can cause other students to fall, resulting in injuries and damaged instruments.)
