SENIORS - Did you turn in your Senior Night form to the Guidance Office?
Senior escorts (parents/guardians) will meet up with the other senior escorts at the Board of Education Office as indicated on the Senior Night paperwork. Band seniors, however, will march to the stadium as usual. When the band comes down for pregame, you will join your escort for Senior Night recognition. Once your name is called, you will rejoin the rest of the band and march pregame as usual.
This week is the last week for sectionals this season. Attendance at sectionals is required! If you cannot attend, call or text the Band Hotline just as you would for any other rehearsal. The number is (912) 549-0262.
Attendance has been somewhat of a problem all season. Let's prioritize rehearsals and performances this week so we can finish our competition season at full strength.
We perform at 3:30 p.m. at Statesboro HS. Parents, family, and friends, please consider making the short trip to Statesboro to cheer us on! Your student's face will LIGHT UP when they see you in the stands. Admission is $10 at the gate, and you can purchase a program for $5.
Meanwhile, here's the plan for the band on Saturday.
We have one more really easy fundraiser for this season. It's all online. All you have to do is create a Pop-Up Store and sell Double Good Popcorn. We keep 50% of all sales, and the popcorn ships directly to buyers. (That means no deliveries!) Prices start at $11. The popcorn is award-winning and really delicious!
• Start: Monday, Oct 27, 2025, 5:00 PM
• End: Friday, Oct 31, 2025, 5:00 PM

The U.S. Army Field Band, one of the premiere U.S. military bands based out of Washington, D.C., is planning a concert in Statesboro on Wednesday, October 29th. If you pay attention to current events, you know that the concert may not happen due to the current federal government shutdown, but if it does happen, it is free! You do have to have a ticket to get in, but tickets are free. To get a ticket, visit the GSU PAC ticket website:
https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/georgiasouthernpac/7265/event/1437716
This is NOT a school event, and you have to get yourself there if you choose to attend.
We will have a costume contest during our rehearsal on Thursday, October 30th. Come to rehearsal in a costume you can rehearse in. Obviously, your costume must be school appropriate! There will be candy for everyone who participates!
Did you sell at least 5 items? If so, you're invited to the pizza party after practice on October 30th, where we will spin the money wheel and enjoy pizza!
We will probably host a first round playoff game, which would be on Nov. 14 or 15. Please plan accordingly.
Congratulations to the band people on the Homecoming Court!
Also, thanks to everyone who played at the Homecoming Bonfire.
Each week, I recommend a piece of band music I think you will enjoy. This week is a really fun piece by one of my favorite American composers, Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein was a composer who was also the principal conductor and Music Director of the New York Philharmonic from 1958 until 1969. This piece, originally written for orchestra and transcribed for band by Clare Grundman, is called, Slava!
We will compete twice this season:
Saturday, September 27th: "Band Blast" at Southeast Bulloch HS. (DONE! Straight Superiors)
Saturday, October 25th: East Georgia Marching Band Championships at Statesboro HS.
Competition days are an all-day affair, so please plan accordingly.
We typically have three parades each year:
Saturday, December 13: Christmas Parade
Saturday, January 17: MLK Parade
Saturday, April 4: Livestock Parade
You can pay ANY SCHS Band fee online with your debit or credit card using this link:

If you ordered supplies but did not pay for them yet, please get that taken care of soon!
