THANKS FOR HELPING AT SCMS FAST START

Many thanks to the handful of students  who came on Saturday morning to help with the Fast Start for 6th graders at SCMS.  You were a great help!  Don't forget about your secret reward on Tuesday.

COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER STARTS NEXT WEEK!

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we're kicking it off with our annual Calling Party at the end of rehearsal on Tuesday, August 26th.  Start thinking about who you can call, and bring your call list to the party next week.  This year we're adding online orders shipped directly to the customer, so even family and friends who aren't local can participate and support the band.

MEMBER SHIRTS - PAY YOUR $30

Wind and Percussion players in the SCGMB must have an Under Armour SCGMB MEMBER shirt.  The shirt we have used in the past is now unavailable, so in order to match, everyone needs a new shirt, including veterans.  The light gray shirts are officially retired, and the new shirts have been ordered.  If you already ordered a new shirt, you are all set; if not, please bring $30 (payable to SCHS) ($32 for 2XL and larger).  New member shirts will be given out this week.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO ORDER PICTURES!

It's not too late to order band pictures.  You have two options:

1. Fill out the order form, put the form and your payment in an envelope, and bring it to Mr. Carter by Friday.  You must either write a check (payable to Prestige Digital Imaging) or bring the exact amount in cash; no change can be given.  This option includes free shipping.

HEY PARENTS:  WE NEED EQUIPMENT CREW!

Coach Lou Burroughs is looking for 2-3 reliable adults to join the EQUIPMENT CREW.  The equipment crew helps to unload the trailer for each performance, helps the students with the equipment, deals with the drum major podium, and helps load the truck after the performance.  Equipment Crew members are NOT required to ride the bus.  You will get into the game for free.

To serve on the Equipment Crew, you MUST:

1. Be available for most, if not all, games and competitions.

2. Have a valid background check, no more than 5 years ago, completed by the Screven County Sheriff's Office.

3. Complete the online Mandated Reporter training.  This must be done EVERY YEAR, so even if you did it last year, you must do it again.

CAROLINA BAND DAY - SEPT. 6

Need your music printed?  No problem, but remember it is MUCH EASIER to print music for you BEFORE or AFTER SCHOOL (not before or after class).
 

BE READY FOR AFTER-SCHOOL REHEARSALS

Remember, denim is not allowed at rehearsal, and you must have the right shoes.  Make sure you stay hydrated throughout the day so you will be ready for the heat after school.

MARCHING BAND COMPETITIONS

We will compete twice this season:

• Saturday, September 27th:  "Band Blast" at Southeast Bulloch HS.

• Saturday, October 25th:  East Georgia Marching Band Championships at Statesboro HS.

Competition days are an all-day affair, so please plan accordingly.
