The band did a great job. Our group is really starting to sound pretty amazing.
The Band Alumni and Friends was awesome! Maybe a few more parents will join us next year. We will plan to do it again at Homecoming 2023.
When you need to send a message, please text the Band Hotline at (912) 549-0262. If you reply to messages I send to everyone (which are coming through Remind via a random phone number that I do not know), I may not see your message until several days later. If you text the Band Hotline, I almost always see it very quickly, and I try to respond as soon as I can. (Note that I will not respond to text messages I receive while I am teaching a class.)
Writer Robert Fulghum became famous when he wrote a book called All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. In it, he claims that if adults would follow some simple rules and guidelines we all (should have) learned in Kindergarten, life would be much better. Here are his rules. I invite you to pay special attention to numbers 4 and 5 (and 9):
“These are the things I learned (in Kindergarten):
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
CLEAN UP YOUR OWN MESS.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're SORRY when you HURT somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life - learn some and drink some and draw some and paint some and sing and dance and play and work everyday some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Goldfish and hamster and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.
And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.”
― Robert Fulghum, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
Our schedule for Saturday is below. Please look over this and make sure you know what you're supposed to wear and when you need to be places. "My shirt is still in the laundry" is NOT an excuse and will result in laps OR being sent home.

✅ Performance socks and shoes - to be worn Saturday afternoon for rehearsal/run-through. This includes COLOR GUARD, WINDS, and PERCUSSION.
✅ “Wanna Dance” SHOW SHIRT to change into after we perform. Check the weather beforehand; bring a jacket/hoodie if needed. School-colored clothing is preferred.
✅ Money for dinner in the concession stand/food trucks
✅ Optional: money for souvenirs, snacks, Air Grams, spirit items, etc.
✅ SUNSCREEN, and maybe a hat. You will be sitting outside for a long time.
REMINDERS:
Winds/Percussion: Wear your RED GMB shirt, shorts, and performance shoes for rehearsal AND under your uniform.
Guard: Wear your white guard t-shirt, shorts, and performance shoes for rehearsal.
No blankets on the bus.
No sugary snacks and no carbonated beverages until AFTER we perform.
HYDRATE.
Go easy on the caffeine.
GET SOME REST THE NIGHT BEFORE!
Early is on time; on time is LATE.
Late on competition day = LAPS. Many, many laps.
Thank you to everyone who donated to or helped out with the Band Hut! The Band Hut will be set up again for next Friday's Senior Night game vs. Claxton.
