Parents (or other adults) who want to serve as chaperones or on the Equipment Crew must first submit to a background check. The cost is $15. Bring your $15 (cash or money order only) to the Screven County Board of Education office (across from Dollar General) and tell them you need to request a background check. Complete the form, turn it in, and you are all set.
Background checks are good for 5 years and must be completed by anyone who is not a school employee.
As a school volunteer, you are required by law to report child abuse, a student having a weapon, and/or a student involved with controlled substances (drugs) – even if the student asks you not to tell. State law requires that all adults receive training to understand this role.
Please take a few minutes to go through this Mandated Reporter training. This training must be completed every school year, so even if you did the training last year, you have to complete it again this year.
