Devin G. - March 2
Although we didn't love the ratings from Wednesday, I think we learned a lot -- I know I did! (I always do.) Keep doing great things as we shift our focus towards our spring concert, graduation, and next season.
You should have received a letter in the mail regarding your advisement meeting. Students, I know you met with your advisor on Thursday afternoon, but a parent has to sign off before you can be scheduled.
All band students are scheduled for Intermediate Band for next year. This is because we are adjusting the name of the courses offered to better line up with the curriculum guide given to us by the Georgia Department of Education.
Not planning to be in band next year? Let's talk about it. Come see me before or after school sometime before your advisement meeting.
As always, be sure to check the calendar for TraiLS meetings. Originally we had a meeting scheduled this week, but I had to reschedule it due to a personal conflict that could not be avoided: oral surgery. I added the new meeting to the calendar for next week.
If you were not at our first jazz band rehearsal, you have to pass the jazz listening test before you can join us. You can either come by after school on Wednesday, or come immediately after school Thursday. (Please let me know ahead of time.) I want to encourage you to consider spending a week with other student musicians at a summer band camp. You'll spend a week playing great music, making new friends, and plenty of other fun activities, too! Two great camps happen right here in Georgia:
Encore! Summer Band Camp is June 19-23 at Georgia State College and University in Milledgeville, GA. For more info: https://encorebandcamp.com/
The University of Georgia School of Music hosts a music camp AND a marching band leadership camp. Both are in June and take place on their campus in Athens. For more info: https://music.uga.edu/summer-music-camps
for April 2nd. More details to come.
Auditions for the 2022 SCGMB Color Guard will be held after school on April 12-15. The first three days are for learning about the activity and learning the audition material; the actual audition is on Friday, April 15. Watch this space for more details soon!
