Lorenzo W. - Aug. 22
Happy birthday, Lorenzo!
If you are in a band class, check Google Classroom EVERY DAY. You are expected to play your instrument every day while we are out.
MARCHING BAND PEOPLE: It wouldn't hurt for you to set aside some time each day to get outside and practice marching. Play a metronome on your phone and practice your marching steps in the yard.
Set an alarm and get up in the morning. You don't have to wake up as early as you usually do, but you still need to get up and get dressed.
Have a plan and a schedule. Set a time to work on your class work. Set a time do something fun outside. Set a time to practice. "Ah, I'll figure it out as I go" is NOT a plan! If something doesn't work, you can change it the next day, but don't let that be an excuse to not have a plan going in.
Don't stare at your computer (or phone) screen all day. Get up and get outside! Get some exercise.
Stay in touch with your teachers -- especially your band director! Let me know how you are doing and how I can help.
Although we had to skip the phone blitz, the cookie dough fundraiser is STILL ON! Please call some family and friends and sell some cookie dough! As of right now, orders are still due on August 31, but that may be postponed a little. Stay tuned for details.
If you signed up for Carolina Band Day, here's what you need to know:
Possibility #1: If we are allowed to rehearse next week and have a football game against Hepzibah on Sept. 3, then we may be allowed to travel the following day. That will all be part of the decision made on Thursday.
Possibility #2: I have already contacted the folks at USC, and they will refund your money due to the circumstances if we are unable to go.
Possibility #3: If the school says we can't go, parents could still choose to bring their child individually. If you would like to do that, please email me ASAP. I need to know by Thursday. If I do not receive a PARENT EMAIL, I will assume that you want a refund.
IF THE TRIP HAPPENS AS PLANNED: Report time is 8:45 a.m. Bring money for lunch. After a quick lunch, we will spend the afternoon and evening with the USC Band. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be televised. We will leave in time to return home around 11:30 p.m.
ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING THE EVENT NEED TO CLICK THE FOLLOWING LINK! There is music for wind and percussion players, and choreography videos for color guard. CLICK HERE AND START PRACTICING!

Our booster program needs a restart after taking a year off. I hope you will join us. Our next meeting is September 7 at 6 p.m. in the Band Room.
