SOLO and ENSEMBLE - April 25

Our first performance is at 9:06 a.m., and our last performance is 10:24 a.m. Performances are at South Effingham Middle School. Parents and friends are encouraged to attend.

If your signed up but are not going to attend, I need to know **NOW**.

The bus will leave from SCHS at 7:30 a.m. and return around 12:30 p.m. We will stop for lunch on the way back, so bring money for that.

GRADUATION - MAY 15

ALL SYMPHONIC BAND MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO PERFORM AT GRADUATION! The ceremony begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 15th. Report time is 6:15 p.m. Attire is ALL BLACK, LONG BLACK (in other words, regular concert attire). As with any other Symphonic Band performance, our participation in the graduation ceremony is a grade.

LISTEN TO THIS!

"LISTEN TO THIS" is a regular feature in our newsletter where I challenge each member of the band to listen to some great music. This week we have a piece by Australian composer Percy Grainger. Grainger loved traditional folk melodies, and he spent quite a bit of time traveling around and finding people who would sing traditional melodies for him. Molly on the Shore includes two "reels" (Scottish folk dance tunes), which are lively and quick. The clarinets especially get a good workout on this one!
