Coil Pot

For this project we had to use coils in order to make a pot. First I made my coils and one by one I slipped them together Once I had made the shape that I liked I then went through and made sure that all the coils were smoothed out. Once the pot was smooth I then went through with different tools and I carved nature related designs into my pot. I try and focus most of my artwork on the simplicity and beauty that nature typically displays. Once this piece was ready to be glazed I went in with a neutral color. My favorite part about this project is how simple it is. This is because I find the simple art pieces to be extra beautiful because they too have so many stories that could be discovered within just as much as artwork that is less simple. Then by adding a few small nature pictures I was completely satisfied with how this piece came out. Next time I will take more time on making sure the small images on the coil pot are how I want them to be. I will also work on giving myself and making myself enough time to spend more time or working on the designs. Also I would fix how tall and wide I make my coil pot because I would like mine to be taller and wider. Overall, this was a very fun and educational project and I enjoyed discovering news ways to smooth out my pot perfectly the way I want it to be.
