Inclusion Project

(The small pictures are at the top & big pictures are at the bottom)

This assignment was to create a piece of art that captures the idea of a community and how everyone is equal. The subject of my creation is animals holding hands to show that everyone, all shapes and sizes, can live in peace. My work was made by first making a boarder and then I went in and just started to free hand the animals with watercolor. I worked from the left to the right on the animals and I painted the background and then trees last.

I chose to create this specific artwork because I love nature and I wanted to capture community while still incorporating nature. It’s arranged by having the animals in the front and they slowly get smaller and then some trees to give it more of a setting. How my project evolved was at first I didn't have trees so I added some because my piece didn't look balanced. I revised my artwork by going back in and touching up the colors to make them more vibrant or fixing smudges.

The meaning behind my artwork is how now matter what your shape and size or culture is we can still come together. How my artwork relates to my life is because I love the outdoors so I added the outdoors to this piece. What I'm most proud of in my artwork is the background because I love the texture the sky makes and it looks like exactly what I wanted it to. I struggled with figuring out what to add in the background. But I overcome these struggles by adding trees because the setting was outdoors so I figured adding trees would make that most clear. My artwork could be stronger if I added even more animals. But overall, I really love how this piece turned out.
