Environmentally Kind to all

2.5" x 8"

In my art, you can clearly see people helping the environment as well as helping each other. The story told is some people show kindness by watering other's gardens, sending love, giving gifts, or feeding animals. I chose to make this because I like to incorporate the environment into my artwork because I believe the environment is important in life. This relates to my life because these are acts of kindness that I like to show. These are only a few of many ways I spread kindness but these are some of my favorite ways to show kindness. I also wanted to use colors such as green, blue, and yellow since these colors are often in nature. I also added other vibrant colors such as pink because I know kindness is a happy positive thing just like bright colors.

My work was made by first sketching the vines that wrap around the "GOOGLE" letters. I then started to place windows, brick walls, gardens, and little people scattered around. I colored the vines green with a pen and colored pencils. I colored the brick wall building purple and tan-grey with colored pencils. I outlined everything with a pen before filling everything else in with colored pencils. I wanted the little people to stand out more so I placed them in spots scattered around and used a bold black pen. I added little grey dash marks between the hearts at the top to represent the movement of spreading love. I added flowers and bees in the garden where one person is holding a watering can. In the first window, there is an envelope with a heart to represent sending love. In the second window, there is someone giving someone else a gift. In the last window, someone opened their window and is feeding the birds seeds. I added a sun around the "e" and then shaded the sky a light blue with colored pencils to give it a background.

The process of creating my art took a lot of brainstorming and redoing sketches. I made a variety of sketches on the same paper because I couldn't decide what actions I wanted my characters to be doing. So I had a piece of paper and wrote down a list of the ways I show kindness and chose my favorite ones to draw. My project evolved as I added more color it brought the "google" to life. The vines also help your eyes flow around the text and helped balance the movement. It also evolved as I added a variety of colors it helped show all of the different acts of kindness throughout this piece. Towards the end, I gave the people little smiling faces and no eyes because I remembered that simply smiling can help show kindness and this helped the characters evolve. My next steps could be to work on making the colors even more vibrant by pushing down harder with colored pencils rather than lightly shading.
