Word As Graphic

This assignment was to choose a word from the basket and then create a piece of art while having the word stand out in a creative way. The subject of my creation is the word flower. My work was made by first I wrote in my notebook a LOT of ideas of what my design could be. I filled up the rest of my notebook with ideas. Once I had the design I liked the most I re-created it and put it on a larger paper. I then wanted to the flower with the backwards r design to be more interesting so I flipped it upside down and taped the two piece together.

I chose to create this specific artwork because I love simple designs. With the flower I added leaves, pedals, and the r watering the flowers like a watering can. How my project evolved was at first I wasn't going to have the r be backwards and I was going to connect all of the letters. But as I kept creating more design I realized the r looked like the end of a watering can. So I decided to create the r at the end to water the word flower. I revised my artwork by keeping the watering can but re-writing it it a bunch of times until I got the font and design I liked the most.

The meaning behind my artwork is to take care of the environment and water flowers. It represents that we need to be more aware and keep our environment thriving. How my artwork relates to my life is I love nature so I wanted to send a message that we need to take care of nature. What I'm most proud of in my artwork is how many thought processes that I went through and I finally came up with the design I like the most. I struggled with finding a design at first. But I overcome these struggles by not giving up and I kept thinking. My artwork could be stronger if I spent more time on it and added more smaller details to make it stand out more.
